Last paragraph:

To create permanent annual events in Calendar2, enter dates (mmdd
format) followed by a space and the event (e.g. 1204 Bill's
B.D.). Put each event on a separate line, below (limit the date,
space, and event to 40 characters max).]
0817 Bill's B. D.
0823 Hazel's B.D.
0601 Brett's B. D.

I also had a problem at first, after you make your entries, when
you close the window another one will come up and ask if you want
to save your changes to the ini file, click yes. I also entered
the event in the month where I wanted it. Then after closing the
program and opening it again the dates where all there several
years in advance.
