"Breaking extensions" has NOTHING to do with Firefox. It's almost always
caused by the extension writer who specifies the current version of FF as
"last known good version." Savvy extension writers have learned to get
around that by specifying "Firefox 1.5+" which causes the extension to keep
working in subsequent upgrades. Unfortunately, not all of them have learned
this.
The MR Tech Local Install extension will allow you to get around this, and
also makes extension installation a breeze.
