Norton is crap. Get rid of it.

Download and install Avast antivirus. It's free for home users.

The only thing you need to know about it is turn off the sound alerts -
otherwise it will be babbling at you every time it installs a virus update
- and if it finds a virus, it sets off a goddamn SIREN! So turn off the
sound alerts in the configuration menu.

Otherwise it's fine - light on resources, scans email, P2P downloads,
Internet Messaging, Web site downloads, file access, the works.
