Well you're right, what you really really need is Adobe Audition
(was CoolEdit) with Jeffrey Klein's 'ClickFix' plug-in module which
is truly magical. *The* best .wav cleaner available IMHO.
But since this is a.c.f. and you don't want to pay ... I can't
recommend anything else. Others might help you out...
When you've done some cleaning, you presumably will be using
Lame to encode using something like this as a syntax:
"Lame --alt-preset standard" to produce v/good VBR MP3s.
