Important differences between GOM and Korean Media Player

Even though some people have posted enthusiastically about the GOM
player, I aborted the installation yesterday after reading the EULA.
The EULA states that the program has two behaviors that I don't want on
my system. These are:
1. The program "phones" the publisher when started. It checks for
updates and reports various information. You agree to this.
2. It uses Digital Rights Management. So, this is how they hope to make
money.
GOM is the free product of a commercial enterprise.
Korean Media Player is free of these encumbrances. It will check for
updates (can be switched off). It has no DRM. It is the product of an
individual and a community.
