I haven't had any timeout problems with irc.openirc.net myself
but once in a while I do see that both you and Uncle Adam
are disconnected due to timeouts ....
But I don't tend to stay connceted for long periods of time
and don't see timeouts there in either the #acf channel
or in the #hohumacres channel where I'm running the Supybot
irc bot which is conneceted to irc.openirc.net from here at home
in Phoenix ....
# whois openirc.net ....
shows they are in Bloomington, Inidana ....
