I knew that this objection to that line would be voiced by somebody.
However, you can still use the program, it's just that the results will
be invalid (another such program is AM-Deadlink
http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm).
You can also start up Firefox offline and use it. I do so all the time
to view web pages I have stored on my hard drive. Same goes for
Thunderbird. I use it to look up archived email quite often.
The main point I was trying to get across is that web services cannot be
accessed unless you are online. That's what I find so unappealing about
them.
Let's not split hairs about this though, the idea of discussing web
services in this group is a bad one. And as I've pointed out in another
post, there are two other newsgroups for discussing web services.
You have to look at the implications of poor decisions made at this
point in time. If you don't, and for example buy into the concept of web
services in the first place, then you will pay a serious price in the
future.
