If I were to have let a bad Linux experience thwart me, I woul have
given up...10 years ago. Instead, I acquired distro after distro until
I found what I liked, then I kept looking. I STARTED with Slackware
(that was fun!), then Red Hat, Suse, Mandrake, Xandros,
Linspire/Lindows, PCLinuxOS, Vector, then all the variants of them. I
used Live CD's when I could to test, when I couldn't, I would install
them on older boxen at work. About 2 years ago I found Ubuntu and while
it was far from perfect...it was the one for me. I am currently very
happy with it, although I am itching to give Dream Linux a shot on a
good piece of hardware. I have installed it on a P III laptop and it
runs pretty good, but I need to test its claims of multimedia supremacy
:)

Using Linux is like an explorer adventuring around the globe. He is
going to run into snags...does he go back to the king and tell him that
"The world beyond, $Our_Land is jsut cruddy...I am staying here!"...no
he keeps going. If you given up after a failed attempt or 3, you ain't
never gonna get far in life. I got a great wife this time around
because I did not give up after I got divorced...

JMHO / YMMV
