I've just spent the day installing mepis on my old computer, and pclinux on
my less old, and better spec one.
Both appear to have failed, I'm not sure why mepis did, it was so slow it
was hard to tell, and may have been me clicking a button out of turn
I thought pclinux was ok, but on trying to run it, it failed, with all
sorts of errors culminatimg in "kernel panic!"
I wondered, since both the distros are at least 10 minutes (OK, 10 weeks)
old, if the experts have later, newer, and perhaps with a better chance of
surviving my all thumbs install than the two mentioned.
AFAICS the partitioning, copying, and bootloader all went well, the
bootloader shows up and runs windows OK, it's just linux that won't start.
(I'll avoid any wisecracks!)
So, any suggestions before I try again, please.
Also perhaps a smaller, but easy to install distro for the older puter; I
don't really feel up to command line stuff, so it has to be graphical.
