And **IF** that happens, I'll agree with you 100 percent, but the
history of the program suggests otherwise. If, at some point,
development of ePrompter ceases, it will become less and less useful
over time with regard to webmail accounts (but still good for POP3),
but there are similar issues regarding other software, e.g. Win3.1 or
DOS programs that break under XP or Vista. Should all free AV and
Anti-Adware programs be banned from the PL on the grounds that, one
day, they MAY go commercial, and if "free" definition updates stop,
the programs COULD become "crippleware" since they can no longer
detect new threats that the commercial version can? CAN the authors
sabotage the program via an update? Of course. The OPERATIVE
question is WOULD they? Except for the tinfoil hat crowd, there's
nothing to suggest the likelihood of deliberate sabotage. Anyone can
play the "what if" game all day long, but please let's try to inject
just a little common sense into the process, okay?

If you don't like the program, don't use it. If you use it, and are
uncomfortable with the auto update feature, write a firewall rule on
an IP range block, but don't invent additional "reasons" just to try
to salvage an argument that shouldn't have made in the first place.
