To my knowledge (and I've been using it for many years) it was NEVER
adware, at least by the current glossary definition:

"Adware: software that displays advertising for other products and/or
services (often downloaded from the internet by the software)."

There's a button on the main window that says "Tell your friends about
ePrompter." Clicking it merely takes you to the home page. When you
SEND or FORWARD email through the program, it adds the tagline:

"Sent by ePrompter, the premier email notification software.
Free download at http://www.ePrompter.com."

There's no "Pro" or "Upgrade" or "Commercial" version of ePrompter to
buy, and they offer no other sotware products for sale. The ePrompter
team is part of Tiburon Technology, Inc., http://www.tiburontech.com/
but there's a clear division between the two and ePrompter doesn't
hawk Tiburon's IT services. IIRC, this program's been around at least
ten years, maybe more, has an active user community and has an
excellent reputation. Just check the logos on the review page:

For those with the skills to write their own rules, KPF (and obviously
other firewalls) can block an endpoint IP range that would prevent
phoning home, but not only would that block updates (which believe it
or not, some users consider to be a GOOD thing) but it would also
block the use of ePrompter's free SMTP servers for those acoounts
which don't allow SMTP and in cases where the user doesn't want to use
his OWN ISP server for outgoing messages. If you don't like the
program, don't use it, but don't suggest the program is something it
clearly is not, just because you have "issues" with the auto-update
feature. That's a reason for NOT VOTING for it on the PW ballot if
you feel strongly about it, but it is NOT grounds for REMOVAL. There
Is a difference.
