Ok I am using IE and clicked the following link
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

and it installed version 9 for me... But I AVOIDED that yahoo toolbar offer!

This is the Active-X edition for IE,

as for firefox I went to the SAME link above, but the site detected I was on
firefox this time,
and gave me a download to install the flash player.
