OT..Gaim question

Im just trying gaim rather than msn messenger which im finding increasing
harder to run on my 98 system.So far i like it ,but for the life of me i
cant figure out how to make the fonts bigger when typing/sending
messages.Ive looked in preferences and tried ticking/unticking all
permeatations under message text but still cant get the fonts to
alter.Any help appreciated
