I noticed you posted YOUR message with Agent 1.93. Is this one of

Actually, two filters catch well over 90% of the crap for me now:

I have killfiled another 18 authors who (a) apparently enjoy sparring
with the slimebucket, (b) replied to a post that doesn't contain one
of the keywords above and (c) don't otherwise post to ACF to discuss
freeware. Exactly zero posts have gotten by those filters in the past
week.

Good suggestion, but......
I did have a problem running the self installer on WinXP Media Center.
Message was "np120.exe is not a valid Win32 application." My
workarount was to RUN the file from the download link. That did get
the program installed.
However.......
Configured it ahead of Agent as outlined in the FAQ, but got this
error message:
Error reported by server 502: Too many connections or server
unreachable.
Okay, I dropped my simultaneous connections back from 10 (which works
fine the regular way and gives me over 700 kbs (BYTES, not bits)
download speed) down to four connections.
Error 502 went away, but.....
Failed: Connection unexpectedly closed by server.
Multiple tries, same result. Duration before failure less than one
second (registered 0:00 in Agent Task Manager.) Debug log enabled in
News Proxy (Nfilter) but the log was blank.
Went back into Agent, changed server back the way it was, including 10
simultaneous connections, and everything worked fine.
I'm sure it's some kind of operator error, but I did RTFM and in
addition tried several tricks that weren't mentioned, and still no
luck. The ONLY thing it would add for me is to be able to filter on
multiple crossposts, and, considering it's another program that has to
run in the background all the time, the benefit isn't worth the
hassle.
I like 40tude Dialog, have it on my system, and use it occasionally
for newsgroups I don't follow with Agent. If I had to go freeware,
this would be my choice. I also use Grabbit with .nzb files. That
said, there are features in Agent that I use every day that I've grown
accustomed to for mail AND news, and I'm reluctant to give them up.
