The best linux system I have tried was Mepis live CD, and that was at
least 6 months ago. It worked very well right off the live CD. If I had
time I would try the latest Mepis, and the Knoppix that was released a
few weeks ago is probably good too,
By the way, I spent an hour yesterday trying to crash Deep Paint, and I
didn't succeed. It crashed easily on win98se. So now I am happy in my
new win2000 system :-)
It was easier than expected. I had heard a lot about having to run as a
user, and registering programs before they could be run, so I was
pleasantly surprised by win2000pro, it let me run as the administrator,
and my old programs run without any hassle at all.
I do not need to use any password to start the computer. It works very
much like win98se, but it is very stable and programs that were
unstable in win98 are stable in win2000.
There were programs I could not use because they needed win2000 or
higher, and now I am not limited by that problem either.
