I bought a webcam recently - and I gave up on trying to find something
that was guaranteed to be Linux-compatable. I installed Xubuntu a short
while later, only to discover that it listed its webcam support
(although how real that support is another matter).

It would be nice to see a lot of cooperation between hardware
manufacturers and something like Ubuntu. Realistically, I think it will
take more mass before manufacturers come to the conclusion that there's
money to be made from Linux-compatable hardware. Let's just hope it's
not too much more mass.
